Description
The VMOD-32 is a powerful intelligent I/O controller based on the MC68332 MCU.
Because of the modularity of the mezzanine I/O bus concept MODULbus, the VMOD-32
is fully
compatible to the higher grade VMOD-40 and VMOD-60 VMEbus computer boards.
The VMOD-32 is designed for cost effective solutions ranging from I/O controller
to single board
computer applications. Due to the MODULbus, the number of customer specific areas of use and
options is almost inexhaustible.
The standard version of the VMOD-32 is provided with 1 MByte of DRAM, 4 MByte
can be equipped
as maximum. SRAM is available as an option.
All versions of the VMOD-32 carry an RTC with on-chip 2 Kbytes SRAM; a battery
backup circuit
prevents data loss during power failure. A JEDEC socket for an 8Bit EPROM offers a maximum size
of 1 MByte for firmware and/or operating system memory for the MC68332 MCU. It is possible to boot
either from the Flash PROM or from the EPROM.
A serial interface(RS232) is available on the front panel sub-D connector and
can be used as console
port or data transfer line.
Additionally, a CAN fieldbus interface is available as an option. This offers
basic CAN specifications
according to ISO/DIS 11898 with high speed CAN using the 82C200 controller. The CAN option on the
VMOD-32 is supported by the ICANOS CAN operating system and CAL and CANopen compatible
software packages.
The monitor software program offers download and start procedures for module
tasks allowing
software development in high level languages on a UNIX,, OS-9, VxWorks or other development
system.
The VMOD-32 software environment is fully supported with VxWorks and OS-9 as
powerful real time
operating systems.
