Description

- Delivers "five nines" availability

- UltraSPARC/Solaris power and broad application compatibility

- Highly available-hot swap I/O and system components

- Fault resilient - redundant power supplies, fans and disk drives

The Force Centellis CO 88520 is a carrier grade, UltraSPARC-based High Availability server in a

NEBS-tested CompactPCI chassis. Combining dual nodes for cluster failover, hot swappable components

and a fault resilient architecture, the Centellis CO 88520 delivers "five nines" uptime for critical

telecommunications and networking applications.

UltraSPARC power and Solaris compatibility

Along with its High Availability attributes, the Centellis CO 88520 provides the computing performance

and I/O flexibility required by demanding telecom applications. The Centellis CO 88520 is powered by dual

UltraSPARC processors and features six user CompactPCI I/O slots per node. Because the Centellis CO 88520

runs the Sun Solaris 7 operating system (factory installed on each node), customers can extend their existing

SPARC/Solaris investments and leverage a broad range of Solaris compatible applications.

Central Office-ready

Tested to Telcordia NEBS Level 3 criteria, the Centellis CO 88520 chassis is ready for applications that must

withstand earthquakes, office vibra-tion, fire containment, electromagnetic interference, power faults, airborne

contaminants and other environmental extremes. This pre-testing enables network equipment manufacturers to

quickly integrate the Centellis CO 88520 into system solutions designed for CO environments.

¡@

Clustering flexibility

The Centellis CO 88520 features an open topology that allows system designers to select the standards-based

cluster software that best suits their needs, including such off-the-shelf solutions as Sun Cluster, Legato

FullTime, and Veritas Cluster Server.

¡@

Availability safeguards throughout

In addition to failover and NEBS-tested fault resiliency, the Centellis CO 88520 supports High Availability

through N+1 redundancy and hot-swappability of key system components. Power supplies, cooling fan trays,

and disk drives are all redundant and hot-swappable to minimize downtime and mean time-to-repair.

CompactPCI I/O boards are also hot-swappable so they can be added, removed or replaced without bringing

down the server. And if heat is a concern for system reliability, the chassis provides 28 Watts per slot front

cooling and 5 watts per slot back cooling to support active components on rear transition boards.

¡@

Easy serviceability

The Centellis CO 88520 has also been designed for easy maintenance with low mean time to repair.

This includes convenient front access to key system elements, including such hot swappable components as

CompactPCI I/O boards, power supplies, disk drive modules, and fan trays. An optional telecom alarm module

is available for central office alarming applications. This provides system monitor inputs for temperature, fan

operation, alarm cut off, power supply, and watchdog timers. It also provides outputs for telecom visual and

audible alarm relays, power inhibit and LEDs.

High quality volume production

As customers deploy central office and other types of networked applications, suppliers' volume production

capabilities take on major importance. Through its parent company, two-time Malcom Baldrige Award winner

Solectron, Force consistently delivers high quality products in the volumes required by leading

telecommunications network equipment manufacturers and industrial OEMs.
