Choice of Application-Ready Platforms—Windows NT or Solaris

With the Centellis Series 8000, you choose the high-performance processors and open operating

systems that power your applications Pentium II/Windows NT or, for the first time in an 8-slot CompactPCI

platform, UltraSPARC IIi/Solaris. The Centellis 8730 features a 333MHz Pentium II Mobile Module processor,

which positions you and your applications firmly on Intel’s excellent price/performance curve for embedded

computing, with easy access to upgrades. The Centellis 8522 uses a powerful 333MHz UltraSPARC-IIi

processor, bringing UNIX system functionality and Solaris compatibility to mid-range CompactPCI-based

computing.

Both models are ready to run thousands of off-the-shelf applications, and both provide you with powerful open

development environments to help speed embedded solutions to market.

Critical Component Redundancy and Full CompactPCI Hot-Swappability

Centellis Series 8000 computers are designed to perform with minimal interruption ither planned

or unplanned.

Critical components such as power supplies, fan modules and disk drives can all be made redundant for

increased reliability.

Plus, with dual fans, the fan tray can be split for optimum circulation one unit cooling the storage and

expansion slots while the other cools the CompactPCI components. In addition, I/O boards, power supplies

and fans are all hot swappable for rapid, non-disruptive servicing. Support for the CompactPCI Full Hot Swap

standard lets you add, subtract or exchange I/O boards without affecting operations. Even storage modules can

be made hot swappable, while the 5 front-access storage bays make it easy to configure redundant storage

facilities.

Build Flexible Solutions on a Robust CompactPCI Base

Centellis Series 8000 computers allow you to leverage the innate robustness of the CompactPCI architecture

as you build a solid foundation for your embedded solutions. The rugged Eurocard form factor and

rear-transition I/O join with an 8-slot CompactPCI passive back-plane that supports a variety of expansion

options.

You can select from a wealth of third party I/O products and peripherals to create specialized solutions for

Voice over IP (VoIP), IVR, intelligent bridging and routing, embedded workstations and servers for C3I

applications, high-end servers for industrial control applications, and more.
